Flight

i live too much,
that life could not take

any more of me,
so i dangled its feet

on water

to stop its breath
for a while

i set it alight
like a bird

it circled above me
i followed/traced its wake,

with a finger
i felt it clutch my heart

i became very still

but it wanted to lose me,
completely
